Christopher Turen


Christopher Turen is a respected and accomplished management executive with a broad business acumen and demonstrated success in operations, finance, and business development, with an innate ability to translate organizational vision and objectives into award-winning business outcomes. Turen has more than 20 years of leadership experience in higher education, including launching and growing career-focused colleges, building strategic partnerships and improving operations. As Executive Director for American Career College-Los Angeles, Turen oversaw campus operations and programs. Prior to serving as Executive Director for American Career College, Turen served as campus president with Alta Colleges, Inc. (Westwood College) - South Bay Campus. In addition, he served as an academic officer and in senior leadership roles with The Chubb Corp. and Kaplan, Inc. Additionally, Turen was part of the founding team that developed Kaplan’s International Student Program, which grew revenue to $60 million annually. During his tenure with Alta, he received Campus of the Year honors in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 in recognition of performance in the areas of student retention and placement, graduation rates, compliance as well as student and employee satisfaction. He was also recognized as a “Person of Distinction” numerous times and was honored as the “Educator of the Year” in 2014 by the Harbor City – Harbor Gateway Chamber of Commerce for his work in the South Bay community.

With expertise in developing revenue-generating strategies, maximizing ROI opportunities, and minimizing risk, Turen established an exceptional record of achievement in driving growth, leading change, and developing short- and long-term strategic vision to execute organizational solutions. Throughout his career, Turen been recognized for utilizing a versatile leadership style, building and managing high-performing teams, and cultivating partnerships with key stakeholders to improve performance and deliver on multiple initiatives in competitive environments. Turen specilizes in the following;  P&L Management, Mergers & Acquisition, Turnarounds & Change Management, Operations Analysis, Product & Brand Development, Process Improvement & Optimization, Forecasting & Projections, Contract Terms & Negotiations, Short- & Long-Term Strategic Planning, Staff, Client & Board Relations, Cost Reduction & Control, and Multi-Site Operations Management. Turen holds a Master of Science in Business Administration from the University of Redlands and a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice from the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University.
