After graduating as a Sociology major from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2000, Lisa Pavik began her 20+ year career with the Student Services Division at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, Ca. She earned her Pupil Personnel Services Credential and Master’s Degree in Counseling and Educational Leadership at California State University, Los Angeles in 2005. As an adjunct faculty member, Lisa provided counseling and guidance to community college students within a variety of specialty departments including: Foster Youth, International Students, Financial Aid and Continuing Education/Noncredit. In addition, Lisa spent 2 years working full-time as the Intervention Counselor at Granada Hills Charter High School, in Granada Hills, Ca. Lisa’s career as a Classified administrator at College of the Canyons began in 2017 as the first Director of Noncredit Enrollment Services, increasing enrollment numbers from 500 students to 4,000 students over 5 years. The secret to the program’s success has been to consistently provide “high touch” service to students from a variety of cultures, abilities and life experiences. When COC established the partnership with YIC, it proved to be the perfect match for Lisa and her team. Passionate about advocacy in support of underrepresented communities, Lisa was both humbled and excited to be invited to join the YIC Board.
