Mike Parzyck: Finding Confidence Through Creativity and Career

Mike Parzyck joined Yes I Can Unity Through Music & Education as part of our very first student cohort back in 2019. Born with conditions that influence how he learns and processes information, Mike is a naturally quiet and thoughtful young man with a passion for music. Like many of our students, he was left wondering how he could turn that passion into a career. Over the last few years, we’ve had the privilege of watching something truly remarkable unfold: Mike’s confidence, voice, and talents have grown in ways that continue to inspire everyone around him.

In partnership with REMO Drums, Mike was placed in what was originally expected to be an administrative support role. But during the interview process, Mike made it clear: “I want to get my hands dirty. I want to work in the factory.”

That single sentence changed everything.

Mike was trained on REMO’s newly installed boxing machine and quickly became known for his work ethic, attention to detail, and always showing up with a smile. “He made a real impression on his supervisors,” said Robert Shen, President of REMO. “He constantly asked how he could do more. After six months, it was a no-brainer—we offered him a full-time position. He earned it.”

Now over three years into his REMO career, Mike continues to thrive. But that’s just one part of his story.

Mike’s connection to music runs deep. He’s a fan of classic rock bands like Rush and Led Zeppelin, acoustic legends like James Taylor, and has a special place in his heart for 80s and 90s music—especially punk and alternative acts like Skillet and Switchfoot. That passion has evolved into a thriving creative life beyond the factory walls.

Mike is an accomplished concert photographer, having shot shows for artists like Jason Bonham, Switchfoot, Mac Sabbath, and The Venomous Pinks. He also hosts his own YouTube podcast series, Vinyl Side Chats, where he interviews musicians and audio industry pros—including Keith Williams of Five Watt World, Jason Stoddard of Schiit Audio, Nelson Pass, Fort Vine, and more. He reviews hi-fi equipment as well, covering gear from Schiit, Klipsch, Pioneer, and others.

And now, Mike is stepping into the spotlight once again—this time as a featured cast member in the upcoming Yes I Can-produced documentary Beyond The Box.

From student to full-time employee, from reserved learner to confident creative force, Mike’s story is a reminder of what can happen when opportunity meets dedication.
