YIC Awarded 2023 DDS Employment Grant

YIC was awarded a grant by the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) with the purpose of funding YIC's business-focused training program The Summer Meltdown Festival Project (SMFP). SMFP will provide creatives with disabilities with 1 year of live production experience qualifying them for industry internships/entry level jobs, as well as enable participants to develop professional contacts while performing role specific job tasks alongside employers offering industry career opportunities. YIC’s goal is to increase the hiring of creatives with disabilities within the entertainment industry and assist in breaking societal stereotypes and stigmas employers have surrounding the hiring of people with disabilities for their skilled job positions.
